WARNING, before you start...
For this DIY to work on your hair, it must be bleached at level 10, i.e. white-blonde. If this is not the case, and you want to achieve this result, we recommend that you contact one of our professionals.
If your hair is very golden (yellow), then discolored at a level 9 and below, the color indicated in this DIY cannot be achieved. However, a beautiful range of colors is within your reach!
Step 1: Protect yourself
Before working with any coloring, it is always important to protect yourself, so as not to stain anything. To do this, you can cover yourself with a colored cape (waterproof), a smock, or simply wear an old sweater that you are not afraid of getting dirty. It is also recommended to wear gloves.
Step 2: Prepare the pink-lilac
Shanie used the Nutri Color Filters 1002 pigment treatment from Revlon (¾ of the recipe), and the pink blonde pigmented mask from Redken (remaining ¼ of the recipe). No need to measure quantities with great precision, you can do it by eye. 😉
The total quantity of the recipe will depend on the length of your hair. For example, a total of 60ml would probably be enough for short hair, while you will probably need double that for long or thick hair. When in doubt, start with a smaller amount of mixture, and add more as needed. However, make sure you respect the proportions so that the color is the same.
Step 3: Applying Hair Color
The application of direct pigments (type of coloring used in the mixture you have just made) can be done on slightly damp hair (well-dried with a towel).
The ideal way to not forget any section is to apply the coloring with a brush, first on 2 main separations: one from the front towards the rear, the second from ear to ear (blue lines in the illustration). You get 4 subsections.
Then continue the application by making rows in each subsection (lilac lines in the illustration). You can use a wide-toothed comb to even out the application.
For a uniform look, apply coloring from root to tip. If you want Shanie's two-tone look, skip the ends and move on to the next step...
Step 4: Pink tips
If, like Shanie, you want pink tips, you must now apply Redken's Pink Blonde Pigment Mask alone to the tips.
Step 5: Waiting time and rinse
Once applied, leave on for 20 minutes, ideally wearing a plastic cap to prevent drying. Then rinse thoroughly with cool (or lukewarm, but not too hot) water, until the water runs clear.
Step 6: Dry... and style
All done! All that's left is to dry your hair and style it as you wish. If the color fades after a while, just repeat these steps. As these are pigmented treatments, the products used in this DIY won't harm your hair... quite the opposite!
